I would leave the house all white and add shutters in a color you like.
Many colors to choose from now. Then paint your front door a color that matches or compliments the shutters.
This way, the white house will always be a blank canvas and you can periodically chage the look of your house inexpensively and simply by changing(repainting) the shutters and doors.
Adding colorful flowers to the front yard will also add interest.
Painting or repainting a house can be tricky. The exterior must be in very good and clean condition for the new paint to adhere properly or you will have a peeling mess on your hands.
Also, it is important to know what type of paint is on the house now (oil or latex) abecause you can paint over oil base paint with latex (if properly prepped and primed) but you cannot use oil over latex.
Good luck.
With the charcoal gray shingles, you have a lot of options! Depends on what colors you like, if there are shutters or do you plan on adding shutters. Light colors brighten, darker colors make things recede. Use your brighter colors sparingly otherwise it gets overwhelming to the eye.
You could go with a nice tan, do the trim work white and put black shutters up. A nice light gray would work, so would a light yellow. If you want more ';impact'; pick a darker, medium color, white trim and shutters for more contrast between the elements that make up your home.
And paint the front door a warm, inviting color with some punch! A rusty orange, burgundy, brick red look great! Add some new light fixtures is a pewter or copper finish and don't forget your mail box! Then place some pots on the porch filled with some pretty flowers in the accent color you chose for your door.
I like medium grey with white trim...simple, classic, and always appealing when it comes to curb appeal. Of course...every area has their own colours that are popular on houses. Do not choose a colour that does not blend with local homes. You can drive or walk around and see colours on houses in your area and then choose one for your house, or at least know what seems to be accepted there. Painting a unique colour usually will either lower your home value a bit, and/or make it difficult to resell. You can get some great ideas by looking at other homes.
Go to better homes and gardens web site. you have to register on their site and it's free and you can choose decorate a room and paint a house, you can choose from several styles and change the paint colors around on their pictures and see what looks good. you can change trim, shutter, door, shingle and siding colors all kinds of ways. that's what we used and it turned out really nice
Blue its always classic ,homey and looks perfect with crisp white brick and the charcoal roof Take a look at these 2 colors both by behr/home depot ,Regatta blue #550f-6 and Blue Spell #550f-7 for even more impact think about paintinting your front door an Antique Red or even Navy .The result will be stunning .
If you live in a hot country then keep it light. Darker colours absorb the heat, therefore get really hot and break down quicker than lighter colours, meaning you will have to repaint more often.
How about wood taking off the white from the walls. Paint it in some rustic shade.
a soft green
red
