I can't, and don't want to strip does anyone have any other suggestions that I can use recover them without stripping or replacing?I have an older home with at least ten layer of paint on the window casings?
It's very easy,buy a new house with less paint on the windows.The only known method is striping,priming and repainting.There several techniques in doing this and chemicals.Follow all safety reminders.

Unless you want to remove all the trim (label it if you do...) and send it out to be dipped, you're stuck with stripping it. I use Multi-Strip, which is goopy, but works well and is non-toxic (but does have a foul odor). If the wood is nice wood, it will be worth it. You could always try one room and see how you like it. Don't try painting it because the weight of all those layers of paint will always make it crack or fall of in a short time.
