Im moving into a home thats trim around bedroom doors and and hallway is not in the best ship can I paint it?

Would it be better to just replace rather than paint or could painting be an inexpensive fix? Could I use some type of top coat to keep it from chipping easily?Im moving into a home thats trim around bedroom doors and and hallway is not in the best ship can I paint it?
Sure you can paint it, but first look at the wood. If it is a nice hard wood, such as oak and you like the look of stained wood, then strip the paint and stain the wood. Otherwise, a light sanding should be fine and then prime and/or paint. (Assuming there's no concern about lead paint -- don't want to sand there...bigger discussion). Good luck.Im moving into a home thats trim around bedroom doors and and hallway is not in the best ship can I paint it?
I would get new trim. That way you can get the trim you like and that way you can either paint it or use varnish it. Varinish is better because it lasts longer and the color of the stain no matter what shade will go with everything. Plus, it looks better.
