I am priming my bathroom wall (over old paint), and I've tried a couple different rollers but they still shed. I've heard of home remedies to prevent this but don't know what they are. Can anyone help?Is there a home remedy to keep a high quality paint roller from shedding.?
i am a painting contractor specializing in luxury homes and here is what we do....take some masking tape and lightly wind it around the roller until you cover it , then squeeze the roller with your hand ,pressing the tape into the fibers ...now take the tape off and take a damp rag and rub it over the roller a few times....the roller will then be free of loose fibers..and your ready to go the whole process takes about 1 minute and it works every time.Is there a home remedy to keep a high quality paint roller from shedding.?
A few days before I am going to paint, I wash the roller. Get as much water out as possible and let dry. This has always worked for me.
Make sure you have enough paint on it all the time. As your painting.
are you using a shed resistant roller cover? most shed resistant covers should have almost no shedding. they are normally WHITE, instead of yellow, green, etc. a good quality shed resistant cover will probably be close to $5. the masking tape idea is also a great solution. the other thing you can try is washing with soap %26amp; water, then let it dry completely. that will usually get all the lint out of the cover. i would still suggest buying a shed resistant cover. wooster super pro doo/z is (i think)the best cover on the market.
my husband,a painter, says to take the roller, new sleeve, and take a lighter or a match and lightly singe the hairs on the roller as u turn the sleeve. and that will take care of ur problem. i think i'd do it outside myself, but he is serious
