Gloss paint for your home?

has anyone used a none smell gloss, and is it better or is it just the same as the normal gloss paint.Gloss paint for your home?
I haven't used low-odour paints on the basis that if they were as good as high odour ones then the high odour ones would have no advantage and manufacturers wouldn't bother to continue producing them.

Whether you need normal high odour paints dpends on if you want the best durability. Internally for most DIY-ers low odour paint will probably suffice. Trained decorators are unlikely to use them unless you have reason to request it. On exteriors it is better to use oil-based normal paints as you need maximium durability.Gloss paint for your home?
Ya gloss is only good for a few things, and walls arnt one of them. Crown moulding yes.... basboards yes... doors sometimes........ but in small doeses it keeps the smell in small doeses too.... please tell its not going onto a wall....
Use Satinwood............... goes on easier, smells less and does the same job.
Go for eggshell low odour better finish, drys quiker with less smell.
iv'e used the non smell gloss and it is alot better smell wise.
The fumes off oil based paint gives this problem. A leaflet from my supplier states that the VOC % has to reduce under EU law by 2010 which means oil based paints could disappear, being replaced by water based. Water based gloss or satinwood don't cover as well but they dry much quicker and you can get more than 1 coat on in a day. The other advantage is that they don't smell anywhere as bad as oil based and rather than keep your brushes in a paint mate or tub of water, they will just wash out in water.
i'ts then same just dorsnt smell I do prefer the egg shell gloss
Yes the low odour stuff is fine and much more pleasant to use.
Gloss,.thats well bad,';Take the shame';.
hi, i have just used dulux realife for wood and radiators, its heat resistant and scuff resistant, hardly any smell at all, and what light smell it has got doesnt linger!

really easy to put on and paint brushes you wash out with water, not messy like gloss!

i used two coats as i was painting over wood that previously had gloss on them but on new wood think you could get away with one coat! dries really quick too! :)

you get the same finish as gloss!!!
The non smell gloss is probably water based and will therefore, in my opinion as a decorator, not give such a good finish. You can get satin type finishes but the same will still apply. Always, whatever it says on the tin, use and undercoat and then a topcoat, lightly rub down when dry, and then a final top coat. Takes longer but the finish will be perfect.
why would you use gloss? I'm covering gloss on 100 year old walls- it's got a sheen that highlights every crack and flaw - have you thought about a satin?
Get normal high sheen gloss i recommend exterior gloss as it leaves a great finish and a really high sheen and is very durable.

Don't be put off by the fact that its exterior.

Make sure you get the oil based gloss if you can acrylics aren't bad but not as good.
