How long do you wait after you paint the inside of your house for the baby to come back home?

I'm going to paint every room while my 4 yr old and 10 month old are away, but how long do I wait until they can come back? How long is safe? How long do you wait after you paint the inside of your house for the baby to come back home?
you'll have to wait until they come back with the paint. then you can begin painting.

a four year old is old enough to handle a paint brush. you can use the toddlers diapers to create spectacular effects. How long do you wait after you paint the inside of your house for the baby to come back home?
In all truthfulness any type of latex house paint is safe to paint with kids living in the home. Your kids would be perfectly safe standing in the room while you are painting. However, I can understand your hesitancy. If you are worried about the fumes then use low VOC paints such as Harmony (no voc's) and Duration Home (low voc's ) from Sherwin Williams. Most people can hardly tell I am painting when I use these in their home. Also, no matter what paint you use, if possible have ventilation (fans and open windows work great) to disperse any VOC's and fumes much quicker. Your house will be perfectly safe within several hours (wait 24 hours if you want to be really safe.

Good luck and happy painting!

Hopefully you use a low or no VOC paint. A couple of hours is usually sufficient, but if you could do 24 hours would be better, in case you had a few thick still wet areas. You know kids, the one spot in the house and they will find it.
