What are the benefits to wallpaper vs. paint when decorating your home?

Assuming you are starting with a painted wall, it is easier to repaint a wall than it is to remove/redo wallpaper later on. So, if your the type of person who likes to change looks every couple years, or are planning to sell in the near future, stick with paint. It is generally also easier to paint than it is to wallpaper. You really need two people when papering to properly hang the strips, and if you goof up, you have to start all over on that section.

However, if a wall has previously been papered, it is easier to remove it and put up new paper than trying to get all the glue off the wall in order to paint.

All that being said, if you find some wall paper you really like, don't let the naysayers talk you out of it. Just read a good how-to book before you start.

Good Luck! What are the benefits to wallpaper vs. paint when decorating your home?
If you're concerned with trends and what is currently popular, wallpaper is ';out.'; This means that if you want to sell your home in the near future, prospective buyers might not want to buy your house if the walls are wallpapered. Also, wallpaper is more difficult to apply than paint, and it's more expensive. I think you should only put up wallpaper if you REALLY like wallpaper. Otherwise, go with paint. What are the benefits to wallpaper vs. paint when decorating your home?
Painting is easier...for some.

Wallpaper can add interest but it can also be too busy. It's hard to put up. It's confusing when pictures, etc. are put up.

Bottom line: paint in very, very, very, light colors. The purpose of paint is not to see it; the purpose of wallpaper is to see it!
there is alot more you can do with paint and you can always change it at any time, think about the future if you dont like the wallpaper anymore, i have personally done it and will never do it again, it takes so long to remove it. Stick with paint
Wallpaper is more expensive, harder to put up, REALLY hard to take down and is out of style right now. If you like it, use just a little...not a whole room.
It's much better and easier to paint than to wallpaper. Unless you size the walls well before papering it't a headache to remove.
I would use paint. Because wallpaper can tear up your walls and starts to get dirty and dusty over time
wall paper is so 1970's.......go for the paint
