I am getting ready to paint the outside of my home, it is mostly brick with minor trim and shutters?

Go with the Khaki. I have a neighbor with black garage doors and it looks like two black holes. I think garage doors, because they are so large, look better in a lighter, neutral color.I am getting ready to paint the outside of my home, it is mostly brick with minor trim and shutters?
I think you should go with the lighter color for the garage door. It will accent the rest of the house instead of stealing the glamor. The garage door is a big space, you want something that will blend in or compliment the rest of your colors. I have a dark garage door color and it doesnt look so good with my lighter siding.
Well, painting the garage doors the black/green would make them stand out more, compete with and possibility upstage the front door.





If you want to draw attention to the front door, paint the garage doors khaki.





If you want to draw more attention to the side of the house with the garage doors (maybe better landscaping on the side, better view, etc.) paint them black/green.

please don't use any old paint here are some tips


prime any bare wood or metal with primer


anything that is already glossed sand lightly and remove flakes then use solvent based undercoat


leave undercoat to dry for a day then gloss


any walls that need painting use a good masonry paint


water based masonry is easiest to use but make sure it will not rain for at least 5 hours after.


be careful with black gloss as direct sun light will bubble it so i would not use it on garage door if it gets a lot sun.


get it right first time it can last 10 to 15 years.rush with wrong paint you will be re doing in 2 years.
i vote for khaki.
