Do you have lead based paint in your home?

My Apt was just tested for lead based paint, and the results showed i had HIGH levels!!! I have 2 small children, which, from what i heard....could be very harmful to them!! Can anybody give me more information on this?!?


And if you have had lead based paint what did you do about it, and did it effect your child behavior?Do you have lead based paint in your home?
How long has it been since your apt was painted? Lead paint was outlawed years ago,as far as I know. The owner should repaint your apt no questions asked. If they don't contact your city that regulates apartment dwellings and explained to them especially about your kids.


The paint should not be dangerous for the kids unless they eat it.Do you have lead based paint in your home?
If your house is more than 40 years old it has lead based paint in it.


However, it has probably been painted over many times if it is more than 40 years old!


If your house is more than 40 years old, and there is a serious problem with paint that is peeling off the walls due to cracks, or some other cause, I would have it checked out to eliminate your concerns which are very real, especially where child development and health are concerned!

Lots of old buildings have lead based paint.


It used to be the 'standard'.


It is only a hazard if it is flaking or pealing so the the kiddies can


eat the flakes, (they actuall do sometimes), or breath it in dust form..


If the old paint is in good condition and covered by layers of later paint,


there is nothing to worry about.
you have to remove or cover lead so as not to be harmful to you and your kids
