Could you return or exchange a mixed color paint at the home depot?

Hey, bought the wrong color mixed paint, need a lighter shade was wondering if they could return, exchange or possibly make it a lighter shade. ThanksCould you return or exchange a mixed color paint at the home depot?
They might give you a partial refund (though I kind of doubt it -- they do sell returned or rejected cans if mixed colors at a big discount sometimes.) But I would just go back to Home Depot and explain the situation -- they should be able to add some white to it and tone down the shade. They've done that for me a few times to adjust the color after I took it home, and they did not charge me for it.





Or you could buy a quart of white plus one of the plastic paint pails with a lid and mix it yourself, adding a little at a time until you get the shade you like. I've done that myself with good results.Could you return or exchange a mixed color paint at the home depot?
i assume they would first rather try to lighten it versus giving you a refund. but i know some stores (non HD) can take back oops paints and sell them to other people at a deep sale price. these are usually small businesses
Once you've left the store, and you approved the color there, you can't return it. They can try to make it lighter, though. Usually a free service.
I know when I worked management at Lowe's we would generally take it back/exchange and then paint would just discount it for someone else to buy. Home Depot usually works on similar policies, I would either just go try or call first and ask to talk to the paint department manager.
