Tried painting walls in new home, but paint isn't sticking well. Like walls have gloss finish. Any Ideas?

When paint is applied to the walls, it is as if it is seperrating out. You can take your fingernail and scratch the wall right back down to the original paint. I own a manufactured home, but it is dry-walled. I'm not sure what to do. Tried to prime the walls with kilz and it still won't stick. Thanks for any help.Tried painting walls in new home, but paint isn't sticking well. Like walls have gloss finish. Any Ideas?
Your problem sounds like you're applying latex paint over oil paint... Here's how to solve your problem:

1. Wash your walls with liquid TSP. You'll find this at any home hardware store. Don't use the powder kind as it's toxic, is harder to mix and must be rinsed (unlike the liquid which is easy to mix, biodegradeable and non-toxic plus doesn't need to be rinsed)

2. Using a sanding block and fine grain paper, lightly sand your walls down. Don't use just your hand as it will cause dents and slumps in the wall.

3. Wipe off the dust with a soft damp cloth.

4. Use a specific primer on the walls. Two coats is always best. I like Bull's Eye 1-2-3 primer:

5. Let the primer dry completely. The fun thing about Bull's Eye is that it dries quickly.

6. Paint your paint color.... and enjoy your new room!Tried painting walls in new home, but paint isn't sticking well. Like walls have gloss finish. Any Ideas?

You are probably trying to put a matte finish on a latex paint. There is a special kind of primer for that at the superstore.
You need to use a primer. If you're painting a light color use white primer; if you're painting a dark color, get tinted primer.
Make sure the surface is clean, and run a fine-grade sandpaper over the walls before you prime.
